Distribution: Occurring on the outer coast in Washington; northwestern Washington to California.

Habitat: Coastal bluffs and sand dunes.

Description:
General:

Stout perennial 3-15 dm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaves firm, woolly beneath and green above, ternate-pinnately twice compound, the base of the petiole sheathing; the leaflets 4-8 cm. long and 2.5-6 cm. wide, irregularly serrate.

Flowers:

Compound umbels several, the rays 30-45, up to 7 cm. long, woolly; involucre wanting; involucels of narrow, woolly bractlets; calyx obsolete; petals 5, white, woolly on the lower back.

Fruits:

Ovary inferior, 2-celled, white-woolly, the stylopodium broadly conic; fruit broadly elliptic, 7-10 mm. long, the dorsal ribs low and inconspicuous, the lateral wings nearly as wide as the body.
